2203281 / BMW CS / CHAMONIX / 1970
2800Cs chassis 2203281 was delivered to Schnitzer on 3/2/1970 as a complete Chamonix white street car. It was ordered and built for a Portugese customer called Nicah Cabral. It was built to Group 2 spec by Schnitzer, Cabral took the car to Angola for the annual race series there. He also raced the car in Portugal during 1970. At the end of 1970 he returned the car to Schnitzer and exchanged it for the silver / red car used by Furtmayr during 1970. The white car then went to two guys called Eisenschenk and Stoffel, they raced the car in many long distance races like 24, 36 and 96 Hour races at Nurburgring, also they did the Spa 24 hours. At some point the car was repainted in Schnitzer silver / red, maybe because they had leased the car and Schnitzer still owned it. Around late `72 the car was sold to Bepp Mayer, he changed the colour to orange and then in `74 updated the car to CSL spec with Motorsport body-style and colours. In 1977 he bought a Group 5 CSL body from BMW and built that car to Gp5 spec. His old car, 2203281, was sold to the USA where it stayed for some years until it was sold to Aram Tourikian in Toronto. In 2011 I bought the car from him and brought it back to England. The car was restored to how it was in 1974 and in 2012 it returned to the USA where it is regularly raced by its owner
